Let’s be honest. When was the last time you actually stopped and checked on your health?
Between back-to-back meetings, deadlines, and endless responsibilities, most of us push health to the bottom of our priority list. Long working hours, stress, lack of sleep, unhealthy eating habits, and continuous screen time slowly become part of daily life. Over time, these small habits silently begin affecting both physical and mental well-being.
Keeping employee wellness in focus, Luminous Infoways recently organized a Free Health Checkup Camp and Mental Wellness Awareness Session in association with the Rotary E-Club of 3262 and the medical team from Utkal Hospital.

The initiative was not just about health check-ups. It was about spreading awareness, encouraging healthier lifestyles, and reminding employees to take care of themselves before small health concerns turn into bigger problems.
The idea was simple. To bring healthcare directly to employees, make health check-ups easily accessible, and start meaningful conversations around physical and mental well-being.
And honestly, the response was wonderful. Employees from different departments actively participated in the sessions, health screenings, and discussions. Many walked away with not just health reports, but also greater awareness about their overall well-being.

One of the most impactful sessions of the day was the mental wellness awareness session on “Managing Mental Load in Corporate Roles” conducted by Dr. Manas Ranjan Mahalik, Consultant Neuro-Psychiatrist from the Department of Psychiatry, Utkal Hospital.
Rather than using complicated medical language, Dr. Mahalik spoke about things people silently experience every day such as stress, overthinking, multitasking, emotional exhaustion, lack of sleep, and the pressure of constantly trying to balance work and personal life.
He shared simple yet practical ways to maintain emotional balance and mental peace in everyday life. Some of the key takeaways from the session included:
Dr. Mahalik also highlighted how poor lifestyle habits, unhealthy food choices, loneliness, anger, stress, and lack of emotional support can negatively impact both mental and physical health.
Another important point discussed during the session was the growing pressure faced by children and parents in today’s fast-paced world. Academic pressure, competition, schedules, and expectations are increasingly contributing to stress and anxiety from a very young age.
The session deeply resonated with employees because it reflected realities many people experience but rarely talk about openly. It also emphasized that seeking support for mental health challenges is a sign of awareness and strength, not weakness.

Another key highlight of the event was the online awareness session conducted via Zoom by Dr. Nalini Pati, Adult & Paediatric Haematologist based in Australia.
Dr. Pati shared valuable insights on cholesterol, heart health, cancer awareness, and lifestyle-related health risks. He explained how unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, stress, smoking, alcohol consumption, and inactive lifestyles can gradually increase the risk of serious diseases.
His message was simple yet powerful: “Prevention is always better than cure.”
He encouraged everyone to adopt healthier habits, stay physically active, and prioritize regular health check-ups and early diagnosis. The session served as an important reminder that small lifestyle improvements today can help prevent major health problems in the future.

Along with the awareness sessions, employees also participated in various health screening activities, including:
Employees got the opportunity to directly interact with healthcare professionals and better understand their health conditions. For many, it was their first proper health check-up in a long time, making the initiative even more meaningful.
More than just a workplace activity, the event reflected the importance of creating a healthy, supportive, and caring work culture where employee well-being truly matters.
At Luminous Infoways, we believe that a healthy workplace starts with healthy people. A team that feels physically and mentally supported not only performs better professionally but also leads a healthier and happier life outside of work.

Luminians express heartfelt gratitude to Jayshree Ma’am, Tanmay Sir, and the HR team for coordinating the event successfully. We also sincerely thank the Rotary E-Club 3262, Nilambar Mishra, Dr. Nalini Pati, and the dedicated medical team from Utkal Hospital for their valuable support and contribution to this meaningful initiative.
The event concluded with a small felicitation ceremony to thank the guest doctors and medical professionals for their valuable time, guidance, and contribution to the awareness initiative.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “health is wealth” many times. But when life gets busy, we often forget what it truly means.
Everything you’re working towards in life, your career, your family, and your goals, depends on you being healthy enough to enjoy it all.
So if you’ve been delaying that health check-up, ignoring proper rest, or avoiding conversations about how you’re really feeling, maybe this is your reminder to start paying a little more attention to yourself.
Because taking care of your health today can make a big difference tomorrow, and health should never be treated as an afterthought.
At Luminous Infoways, we believe a healthy workplace starts with healthy people. Initiatives like these are our way of encouraging awareness, well-being, and a healthier work culture for everyone.
